Demonstrations are held to keep the Engine 50 Firehouse from being closed.

Local residents, led by Sal Giarratani, protest the plan to close the firehouse due to cuts imposed after Proposition 2 1/2. Some chain themselves to firetrucks. The demonstrations are successful and the firehouse continues to operate today.
